2 Minute Read:
Plastic surgery combinations are more common than people realize. One popular concept is the Mommy Makeover, which is a combination of two or more procedures for an overall improved look.
It’s clearly possible to have multiple surgeries at once, but you may be wondering if it’s safe and which combinations are allowed. You can’t just pick which procedures to combine or how many. It’s a careful process that should involve your plastic surgeon, who will consider your goals and health.
Are Plastic Surgery Combinations Safe?
Many plastic surgery combinations are reasonably safe. In fact, there are some benefits to doing multiple surgeries at once. Patients save time and money by only being put under anesthesia once. Additionally, as there is some risk with anesthesia, reducing the number of times you are put under is also safer.
Patients also can reduce total recovery time and don’t have to take off two periods of work when they combine surgeries.
Lastly, by having your surgeries done all at once, you walk away with more dramatic results. You can wow the people in your life with the results of multiple operations, rather than a gradual change.
What Are the Best Plastic Surgery Combinations?
Some combinations make more sense, both for safety and recovery, than others. Common plastic surgery combinations include:
- Tummy tuck surgery and liposuction
- Tummy tuck and breast enhancement
- Facelift surgery and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
- Facelift and brow lift surgery
- Facelift and neck lift
- Facelift and fat transfer
- Eyelid surgery and dermal fillers
- Chin augmentation and rhinoplasty
- Breast reduction and breast lift surgery
- Breast augmentation and rhinoplasty
Which Plastic Surgery Procedures Should Not Be Combined?
Some surgeries don’t make sense to combine. For example, breast augmentation and facelift don’t work together. The patient will be unable to recover correctly, as two drastically different areas were operated on. The same would be true for a combination of a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and breast augmentation.
Ultimately your doctor will advise you if your desired combination is possible. Your doctor will assess your request based on your general health, your support system at home during recovery, and any other applicable factors.
